The end of the World

Image
(ENG) So here I am, arrived, finally, at the end of the world. So? Having arrived here I can say I've seen it all and come back, right? Of course, that's not quite the case. I am in Ushuaia, a very special place. It is considered the end of the world because at one time no one went further south than this, except to go from one ocean to another. It was also a safe haven. It is not that the climate here is all that welcoming, but at least it is a little more sheltered, given its location in the Beagle Channel. Actually, this canal was also used to make the crossing and go from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean and vice versa.  It is also considered the southernmost city in the world. Actually, even this is not true. Puerto Williams is a little further south. Just across the channel. That piece of land, however, belongs to Chile. So? Nothing about it is true! It almost looks like it has nothing special, after all. On paper, indeed not. So why come here? The city also has an in...

Time to push further south

Image
(ENG) The time spent here has been really incredible. I had to make choices, regarding places and duration, and it was not easy. There are so many things to do and see in Patagonia and its territory is so vast. I met many people here and made new friendships especially with local people. They were also kind of my guides, so many times the places I visited were suggested to me by them. There would have been many more, probably 10 times as many. But that's okay, it's my first time here and I think I've at least managed to get an idea of the many, many wonders it has to offer. I don't know exactly how long it would take to be able to say that I have experienced at least most of the places in this region. I think a lot. And I also believe that it is necessary to have a significant economic reserve. Here, if we have to average it out, the prices are pretty much the same as in Europe. It's hard to find a bed and a meal that are reasonably priced, not to mention the fact...

And now..Patagonia

Image
(ENG) And so I arrived in Patagonia. You know, to be honest, it's hard for me to believe it. It sounds like a dream. When I was growing up and studying these lands in my little desk in elementary school, it just seemed to me that we were talking about things that are actually not real. I know, now that I write this I realize it is silly. But I think back then my childish mind needed hard evidence for anything. I know there were also the pictures and everything, but for me it was not enough. I'm left with that a little bit. I need to experience certain things for them to become completely real. Well, this world, which seemed so far away, finally became real. It was not so simple. The journey here was long. Well, I left home four months ago. That is not a long time, but sometimes it seems like an eternity. With that out of the way, I encountered several difficulties in reaching this destination. The plan was to go from Merlo to Buenos Aires by bus and then there rent a car and ...

Time to leave Merlo

Image
(ENG) I am on the road again. After spending almost 3 weeks in charming Merlo, I packed up my things yesterday and hit the road again. If I'm honest, I wasn't exactly thrilled about having to search and gather everything. I had gotten used to it here, with the climate, the environment and the pace of life. By now I felt like I was part of this place. It was almost surreal to leave it. I spent unforgettable moments in this special place. I had the chance and luck to see and refresh myself in its thousands of waterfalls, to walk in nature, to hear the perennial magical song of all those colorful birds to meditate in the shade of the trees, maybe in a hammock, to climb rivers and mountains, and also to visit the small and lovely town. There are so many activities and things to see, especially at this time of year. It also has the third-largest microclimate in the world. There are many factors that participate in making this place unique, but the most important one has not been wri...

First experiences in Argentina

Image
(ENG) This is a special time. It certainly is for me, but in general this time of year is special a little bit for everybody. Certainly there are also people who think it is not. I am convinced that some people say that actually nothing changes, that these are normal days, like so many others in our lives. But even this kind of thinking and its implementation requires great effort. Whether you want it or not, you are affected by the collective energy around you, and if the desire is to reject or ignore it, you will need to figure out how to do it and then put it into practice. One way or another, something different is there in everyone's lives, at least in their inner world. What about my inner world...right now it is quite discombobulated. I feel that these days are very special, full of joy, but also sadness and nostalgia. I think of all the people dear to me, how they are spending their time and I am so far away from them. From all of them. Or at least almost. I met my very d...

And now Argentina

Image
(ENG) And here we are in Argentina! The reasons why I included this country in my trip are 2. The first is because since childhood I have dreamed of this place. It always seemed to me a fascinating world, but at the same time so far away. It was one of those seemingly unattainable dreams. The second is because I was supposed to meet someone here. I have a friend, whom I met on the Camino de Santiago, who recently got married to a woman from this place. She had long told me that they were going to have a vacation around here and that they were going to have a party with the purpose of having all those people who had not been able to attend the event experience the wedding. So here I am, ready to experience the reality of a small town in Argentina that is quite unknown to us. But let's start from the beginning. I left Peru on the 23rd of December in the night. The trip included a stopover in Buenos Aires and arrival in Cordoba. I had not planned to stay in this city, but since I cou...

Adios Perù

Image
(ENG) It's over. It seems like an eternity ago and at the same time it seems like only yesterday that I arrived in Peru. I have been here 2 months. When I think about it this span of time in relation to my whole life is little, but in relation to just one trip it is a lot. A lot has happened here and probably a lot more could have happened if I had continued to stay here. I have really enjoyed this country and feel that it has offered me so much. I have had the opportunity to visit many places that, in my opinion, are unique in the world. They have entered deeply into me and I feel that my personal puzzle has acquired many pieces here. But, if I have to be completely honest, the last few days I felt that enough was enough. Not that I ran away or couldn't wait to leave, but I felt a sense of happiness and relief in knowing that I would be leaving shortly. The decision to stay here 2 months I had made before I started the trip, and I think that was fortunate, because there were a...
